Hahn, Otto, "Portrait d'Antonin Artaud (1)," Les temps modernes, 17e année, No. 192, pp. 1592-1619, may, 1962.
Artaud's scatalogical lyricism and blasphemies were the result of his early childhood: meningitis at five years, mother fixation and repeated whippings, reprimands and lectures. Later nervous troubles and sleepwalking compounded his difficulties, leading him to perfect his mind to rid himself of multiple social, family and mental inferiorities. (T.T.B.)
